Leaving for Greece Tomorrow!



We are leaving for Greece tomorrow!

I tell people that when Carolyn called Dad and Mom about this dream of going to Greece, Mom said, “I thought I wouldn't have to make these big decisions by the time I’m 88.” Carolyn said, "That’s fair."

Then Carolyn sent us sisters a message, “Dad’s excited. Mom’s trusting.”  This morning when I told Mom what Carolyn said, Mom laughed and laughed and said, “That’s exactly right! That’s our life!” LOL!

Big First Day in Greece!

  Friday, April 14 Big first day in Greece!  Slept in. Carolyn took Dad and Mom their coffee in bed. Carolyn took this picture this morning of Dad and Mom eating breakfast on the balcony. I said, “So cute!” Mom said that’s the word many people describe them as saying, “Oh you’re so cute!” Carolyn read the verses from Proverbs 16:  Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness. A man plans his ways but the Lord directs his steps. Dad said, “That’s my verse.” Carolyn just told me that yesterday on the plane after we got our food, Mom told her a story she’s never heard before. When Mom was seventeen on her solo trip to California, she didn’t know she was supposed to order her food before they took off. So after she was on the plane, a lady sitting beside her opened up a box with a big chicken dinner and shared it with Mom! Carolyn just showed me her hat she bought last July here in Greece. Ancient Corinth and Spring Water

  This morning Carolyn and Daniel went for the early morning swim! Then Carolyn and I biked around with the bikes available at our Airbnb. We had a good laugh over the one bike that had a bit of an issue!     We ate breakfast and continued our game of Phase Ten. Lots of competition going around! Left to see the ruins of Ancient Corinth and drove up the mountain to Acrocorinth, the fortified acropolis of Corinth. At Ancient Corinth, saw the speaker’s platform where the Apostle Paul preached to the Corinthians. There was an old stone there with the inscription of 2 Corinthians 4:17 written in Greek and English. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison. This was the verse Sam read at Life’s spring banquet this year.  After eating our Gyros on top of the mountain by the Acrocorinth, we headed down off the mountain. Stolen phone and Ferry to Salamina Island!

Last night, Carolyn’s phone was stolen! She was walking to pick me up at Daniel’s apartment and was looking on her phone to see where to go. A man whizzed by on his bicycle and swiped her phone. She pleaded after him to please give her phone back. He did not comply. She waited to tell Dad and Mom this story until this morning then wrote this to the family: “Quite an incredible feeling. I knew I was a bit more vulnerable since I had missed a turn and was retracing my steps. And it was 10 pm. But for a person to reach suddenly into my personal space and grab my phone forcefully out of my hand...it's never fun to be robbed but this felt more intrusive. I was not hurt at all and I'm fine. Slept well last night despite it.” In the morning, Dad and Carolyn went to the Market with Daniel and bought veggies and kabobs. Left for the trip with Daniel and Amber and Lucas to the Greek Island Salamina. There was a ten minute Ferry across the Aegean Sea. We toured ruins and had a picnic by ...
